Ambala Scientific Instruments Manufacturers ' Association
The Association was established in the year 1972-73 and is a registered body under Punjab Societies Act 1860.
You well aware that Ambala Cantt is a hub of scientific instruments with more than 800 units engaged in business. The scientific instruments industry is employing more than 4000 skilled and semi-skilled people. It is using more than 50 types of different raw materials to manufacture more than 20,000 different types of instruments, which are being used in schools, colleges, engineering institutes, medical colleges, hospitals, universities, research laboratories, quality control lab of industries and defence/space applications. The annual turnover of the industry is approx. 800 crore with approx 200 crore being the export component.
Every three years our association brings out a Directory of its members, which is sent to approx 600 dealers of scientific instruments in India and abroad and it is also sent to every trade High Commission of India in foreign countries and Embassy of each country located in India.
Our Association is an active body, which is being run in a democratic and totally transparent manner. Electrons are held for Executive Committee every two years and accounts are audited every year. Time to time, we organize training programs, practical workshops, visits to various institutes of national importance, visits to large scale industries etc. we are regularly in touch with local science degree colleges, engineering colleges, medical colleges and arrange interaction with the faculty.

In the previous years, the Association made presentation to the Principal Scientific Advisor, Govt. of India, New Delhi and interacted with heads of the various govt. engineering colleges regarding up-gradation of Ambala Industry.
The Association also held various meetings with the officials from TIFA {technology information Forecasting & Assessment Council} for exploring the possibilities of setting up an institute to cater to the needs of local industry. We also associated with National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra to study various Technological Gap regarding Ambala Industry vis-ais international market.
We also keep in touch with local govt. officials like G.M., DIC; XEN, HVPN; Director, CSIO, Chandigarh to apprise them of the problems being faced by local industry. Recently, our Association has signed a memorandum of Understanding with Ambala College of Engineering & Applied Research (ACE) Devsthalli (Near Mithapur), District Ambala to establish a centre for Research in Electronics to help Ambala Industry upgrade their products. We are also running regular classes in Ambala College of Engineering & Applied Research (ACE), Ambala.
The President is also a member of State Level Bankers Committee for exports and we regularly participate in the meeting held at Delhi and Chandigarh. The President of the Association was nominated as a member of the committee to scrutinize and nominate applicants for National Quality Award 2007 for the State of Haryana under the Chairmanship of Principal Secretary, Haryana.
We regularly hold the Governing Board Meeting of the Association every month and General Body Meeting four times in a year. The minutes and agenda of the meetings are emailed to every member.
In 2008, his Highness Dr. A.R. Kidwai, Governor of Haryana was the Chief Guest at our Annual General Meeting in which five entrepreneurs of Ambala industry were honored.
On previous occasion Dr. L.K. Maheswari, Vice Chancellor, Pilani University, Rajasthan has graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
In the 2010, our Association in active collaboration with MSME-DI, Karnal and NSIC, Chandigarh organized Ist ever national level trade fair of scientific instruments GLOBAL EXPO-2010 at Ambala in which more than 1200 delegates visited and it was a huge success.
Also, in the year 2011, the Association organized the IInd edition of the GLOBAL LAB EXPO-2011 at Ambala Cantt which was on a much bigger scale and attracted all the stakeholders on a common platform.
Keeping up with the tradition and expectation of the members, the Association has decided to hold the 3rd edition of the event GLOBAL LAB EXPO-2012 at Ambala Cantt in which more than 100 participants will be putting  up the stalls and eminent speakers from the field shall be giving guest lectures. We are also in the final stage of implanting IIUS cluster scheme of govt. of India at Ambala and we are running two clusters for lean Manufacturing Scheme under the aegis of National Productivity Council. We are also participating in the Design Clinic Scheme of Got. Of India.
Very recently our Association made a presentation to XI Commonwealth India Small Business Enterprise from different countries.
